#artlog #kind of #mostly just an excuse to show off my doodles

doodling

i saw a few mutuals post about bakatako recently. as someone who loves going on new not-so-popular websites, i jumped right in. (i really hope this doesn't come to bite me in the ass later! i've been on this site for a day hover me!)

it's a very chill doodling site! it kind of reminds me of miiverse. there are daily art prompts, and you can even draw other people's ocs like artfight. you mainly use their built-in art program, which had a surprising amount of depth. it's like i'm back in tomodachi life drawing different types of food. but this time the art program has sliders and loooots more settings. most comments, save for OC pages, can only be made in a drawing. most text is just titles and captions, or OC descriptions.

they also have functionality for uploading OCs and attacking/revenging like artfight, which is also neat! i haven't used it much yet, i've only drawn like. two characters so far. they do also have a site currency called bakabucks, which you can use to buy custom brushes and stamps. if you care about keeping a long daily prompt streak, you can also use bakabucks to restore it or give yourself a break for a day without losing it. you can also commission people with bakabucks. god i sound like a weeb talking about this.

my duck #myduck

my first drawing was for the prompt create a rubber duck with a unique accessory. my girlfriend likes ducks a lot so i drew a rubber duck with a philippine duck. i knowwww these are supposed to be doodles but i don't want to be the kind of artist that's nothing without their usual art program.

i remember being younger and frequenting Draw Something and Slimber, being amazed at what people could do with these pretty basic programs. i hope past me would've looked at current me the same way. past me has got nooothiiiingggg on present me.

one of the things i really enjoy about it is that you can export timelapses. which means i have art with timelapses now. it's not a perfect timelapse (theres a bunch of stray lines i know i erased way before the end), but i like looking at it lol. my timelapses are usually off because medibang loves to eat my storage space. i hear it's similar with CSP, which sucks because i don't have the pre-planning to actually record myself drawing, and i also don't have the storage space to keep the timelapse setting on for every single artwork.

you can also export these little "reveal videos", probably for social media posts? you can also re-roll the closeups if you want to gamble. since the zooms random, they do end up kind of funny sometimes. the ethan artwork got gilded!!! thanks for the gold, kind stranger (this is a joke this is a joke i'm not saying this seriously)

since this is a drawing game for fun, but also still kind of a social media, i tried my hand at a no metrics userstyle. i've learned about the wonderful world of CSS selectors. this removes all like numbers and followers/following, though i keep my own following visible on my profile just so i can get to it easily. notif and received fanart numbers are intact, notifs don't go up by much and i personally like seeing fanart amounts (not that i get a lot of them!) honestly, half the reason i made this blog post was just so i could show it off.

the other half is so i could show off the art i've done. check it

(there is actually more, but they're of other people's ocs so i dunno if they're fine with that)

okay thats all. see you next time :]
