happy pride
its been almost two months? i got caught up with artfight prep, con prep, and a whole thing and a half with a nightmare situation with an event organizer. i won't get into the details, but you could probably read about the organizer Patrons of the Arts (or send me an email or message and i'll summarize as best as i can). lots of mismanagement, mishandling of funds (upwards of 45,000 USD), extremely sparse communication, etc etc.
luckily ive only lost ~50 USD in table fees, though still kind of annoying this is the second organizer that's disappeared after taking artists' money that ive run into (first one being kaicon).
what i've been up to
-
commissions: the usual, really. i started doing a new commission type, i'm drawing tiny cute chibis for like 12 usd each. theyre fun. i wanna offer more non-chibi options but. I'm scared
-
artfight prep: the html editor is out!!!! it's also been a while since i've made ref sheets so i decided to give them a shot again. i don't know why i was so intimidated by fullbodies. i don't think i'm exceptionally good at them but it feels a lot easier. but everything feels easier when you're drawing the characters you're obsessed with i guess. i'll be team comedy for artfight :]
-
sticker mail prep: i'm planning to send out another sticker mail batch (unfortunately can't accommodate any more letters, but i'll probably make another call or reach out to some friends again sometime). it's been about a year ish since i sent them out last, so ive made a lot of art since then.
-
artist alley: i did my last planned event for the year, komiket makati! komiket was good though, it's my second best event ever
and i convinced at least one person to make a website with my
zine. i don't expect to get into
any new ones for the rest of the year LOL. the original art convention hosted by patrons of the arts
also got cancelled so i'm never making it there.
i sold a few of my girlfriend's poster designs on her behalf. apparently regular artist alley artist EbonyTails was at the event, and their partner stopped by and saw my girlfriend's roaring knight print! full circle moment - my girlfriend as the only person who bought their roaring knight keychain a few months back, and ebonytails remembered. we talked about roaring knight and dess designs, i was so happy for my gf.
- doodles 4 palestine: joined another round of d4p! i didn't get to draw as much as i liked last time (funny considering i was in another country drawing on my five year old laptop in a hotel room). here's my three artworks.
other stuff
as usual, i've been treating myself to a few commissions as a treat. i also have like, two requests (so they may or may not get done) and one commission in queue (a 48 hour rush comm from xarthiel). i also really want to commission a mutual, but i need to save up for it first.
i kind of miss doing personal OC pieces. i've mostly been focused on comms and con prep, and now artfight, so i haven't been able to make a full piece for myself yet. i haven't made one for this month though, so i hope that changes soon! iii don't really have any ideas yet either. man, how did i pull off fiorebruary.
i've also been drawing so many ffxiv characters (wols?) lately. my friend got into ffxiv for unrelated reasons too. i'm at a very ffxiv time of my life.
driving lesson update: i misunderstood the instructions for my driving lessons so i need to retake the theoretical. ughhhhhhh. i cant speed through it because i have to watch the entire lesson video AND spend at least a minute per question on each quiz. not difficult and i could probably finish it in a week or less, its just inconvenient lol.
ive also been seeing a lot of awesome nekoweb sites, particularly numasmells and azachi's. i love their builtin guestbooks and forms and it looks really nice to use. i would also like a guestbook where people can doodle (for free lol). and i would love to implement something too (for free lol). numa's in particular is really interesting, he's been playing around with form input and it's really cool to see! and i have a whole thing set up with github so it's gonna take me a while to properly set up my nekoweb (different site name for fun).
ive been considering changing up my site format. i've been having fun with artfight's newly added HTML editor, i've been decorating my profile and OC profiles. i'm still pretty happy with my site layout, but i can't say i'm *not* tempted to change everything up. after using bootstrap on artfight again i'm kiiinda considering using it here again just because the class and grid systems are so convenient.
i realized i only have one artlog so far LMAO. i'll get around to making a proper second one sometime, i do NOT have the energy to compile a bunch of images right now.
see you next blog post, i hope it's not too long from now!
